Charming
Opportunities Journal:
Have you recorded anything in your Charming Opportunities Journal either today, yesterday afternoon, or last night?

Literature:
Audio-Bible
Audio Bible has made
it possible to hear the incomparable Alexander Scourby read Scripture.
We strongly urge you to take advantage of such a wonderful
resource. You may even find yourself asking for Alexander
Scourby reading the Bible for Christmas, your birthday, anniversaries,
Easter, etc. It is WELL worth the investment !

Esther Chapter 8: 3:06
Esther Chapter 9: 4:52
Esther Chapter 10: 0:36
Esther Total Time: 12:38

Movie: Esther
(the last 1/2 of the
movie)
Following the conquest of Babylon, the King of Persia gives
a banquet for his people at which he requests the presence of
his wife, Vashti, who refuses the King's demand. Ahasuerus disowns
Vashti and goes in search of her replacement. In his harem,
he meets the young girl, Esther, who immediately captivates him
with her charm and beauty. Unaware of her Jewish heritage,
King Ahasuerus falls in love with Esther. Esther than reveals
to Ahasuerus that she is Jewish and asks him to show her people
mercy, because of a planned genocide of the Jews by the King's
right-hand man, Haman. In doing so, Esther saves the lives
of many innocent people and paves the way for their return to
Jerusalem. Starring F. Murray Abraham and Jurgen Prochnow.
1 hr 31 min Scriptural correction will be required.

1) Briefly describe the predicament Esther found herself in and why she ended up in a beauty pageant. Why was her name changed? Would you have been able to handle this situation as gracefully as Esther?
2) The movie showed that when Esther first went to the palace she was taken through their cleansing and dressing techniques for that culture. Do you think different cultures have their ideas of what constitute beauty and charm?
3) Describe the relationship between Esther and her uncle.
4) Discuss trust. What makes this attribute important? Why do we need to be careful when deciding who we can and cannot trust? Who do you think Esther could trust in her new situation? When do we know someone is worthy of trust? Are we worthy of trust?
5) Discuss the attribute of trust with ...

Give not that
which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before
swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again
and rend you. Jesus (Matthew 7:6) |
6) Suppose you have come to the conclusion that an individual cannot be trust (e.g., like Haman). How should you treat this person? Why? Do you think the above scripture verse and the old saying, "Discretion is the better part of valor" both apply?
7) How did Esther's the character trait of courage add to her charm and beauty?
8) How did the character trait of boldness add to Esther's beauty and charm?
9) Give an example of how Esther's uncle proved his trustworthiness.

First we will repeat Monday's activities,
1) Take a shower.
2) We will use deodorant so we do not draw any unnecessary
attention to ourselves like the
hypocrites in the newer testament.
3) Put on some becoming clean clothing.
4) Look at your nails. Are they clean from grime?
5) We will brush our teeth to make them sparkle.
6) We will brush our hair in a becoming manner.
Today, we will ...
1) Begin practicing to walk with a heavy book on our heads around the house. Be sure to hold your head properly. Did you read 1 Peter 2:9,10? You have been called by Him. You have noble blood in you from Him. Walk in grace and gratitude for what He has done for you.
Be gone slumped shoulders! Be gone scuffling feet! Be gone hanging heads as if in defeat! We have VICTORY act like it!
2) Cheerfulness is essential to beauty. Can you imagine Esther moaning, groaning, and doing an "Oh, poor pitiful me?" routine? If you cannot think of anything cheerful to say, at least have a smile on your face and attempt to reduce complaining and mumbling !
3) Courtesy and being polite is also an essential ingredient for beauty. Would Esther belch or make other inappropriate noises at the table when others are eating?
4) Proper facial cleansing. We will discuss why proper cleansing is important. Whether or not you opt to wear make up is up to an individual's conscience before God. If you opt to wear make up a clean face is essential prior to putting on foundation. If this is properly accomplished, the foundation will help to protect your skin from obtaining more blemishes and, if you get foundation with sun protection in it, the foundation will also protect you from the harmful rays of the sun.
Challenge:
(1)
It is not only important for us to be personally clean,
but our clothing and our bedrooms must be clean and well organized.
What is the sense of being physically clean complete with
a manicure only to put on filthy clothing or if our rooms are
messy? Part of beauty is being able to be efficient and
effective with our time. This basically means that "there
is a place for everything and everything has its place."
In the long run, having our rooms neat, clean and organized
gives us more time to spend on those projects we enjoy or with
people we love.
Your personal challenge:
(1) Learn how to do your laundry, and (2) clean
and organize your room.
(2) Courteous Small Talk. This is the art of working to make the other person(s) comfortable. Many despise this skill because they either (a) cannot master courteous small talk or (b) they do not understand that small talk is not about them but about putting others at ease without necessarily exposing too much about ourselves until the other person(s) has earned our trust. Take your time getting to know others.

Give not that
which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before
swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again
and rend you. Jesus (Matthew 7:6) |
Small talk can lead into conversations that have more substance. When you think you need to respond and are not sure what to say try: "oh quite," "really?, I had not thought of it that way before," "interesting," or "oh my."
| Colossians 4:6 ... Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. |
| I Peter 1:15 ... But as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation |
| Philippians 1:27 ... Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel |
It is so easy to select one
type of music and
only listen to that type, but that would be like selecting to
eat peanut butter sandwiches for the rest of one's life and not
enjoying chicken, salad, strawberries, etc. Attempt to expose
yourself to a variety of music at least two to three times per
week (if not everyday). Helping others to feel at ease and
encouraging them to talk about their likes/dislikes is essential
to charm and beauty. Art is similar. Go to the library
and check out books at least every other week that exposes you
to various types of art. Go to At the Movies and learn how Sister Wendy can
explain various types of art to you on the Misc. page.

Geography:
1) Continue to compare
/ contrast the weather from Persia (Iraq) and Israel with your
own for one week. Do you think the weather from these
countries had an impact on clothing? housing?
2) See if you can locate Persia (Iraq) and Israel on a globe,
map, and atlas faster than you did yesterday. Identify the
capital of each country. Do you think the terrain from these
countries had an impact on clothing? housing?
3) Make a meal from Persia (Iraq) and/or Israel for your
family. Do you think the weather and terrain from these
countries had an impact on food? clothing? housing?
