Pinckney-Shortt Resolution
|

Brig. General T.C. Pinckney: As a homeschooling mother of 3 children and a member of a Southern Baptist Church, I applaud the bold stand that you and Mr. Shortt are taking concerning education. I, as well as many others, are praying diligently that the Christian Education Resolution, which calls on "all officers and members of the Southern Baptist Convention and the churches associated with it to remove their children from the government schools and see to it that they receive a thoroughly Christian education, for the glory of God, the good of Christ's church, and the strength of their own commitment to Jesus" will not only be brought to the attention, and seriously acted upon by many leaders as well as lay people, but passed as well. It is encouraging to see so many visible leaders taking such a firm position on this issue, but I believe it is our best hope for the future as well as a nation-wide revival. As Martin Luther said, "I am much afraid that the schools will prove the Gates of Hell unless they diligently labor in explaining the Holy Scriptures and engraving them in the hearts of youth. I advise no one to place his child where the Scriptures do not reign paramount. Every institution in which men are not unceasingly occupied with the Word of God must be corrupt." Again, thank you for your bold stance, and know that many prayers are behind this effort. Sincerely, |

Dear Mr. Pinckney / Shortt, We are praying that the
resolution will be (1) brought out of the committee, (2) considered
by SBC attendees, and (3) passed. Yet, we also pray the mere
attention your Education Resolution receives will convict Christian
parents from all denominations of their duties. We ask our Triune
King will cause His people to earnestly seek Him for direction
in prayer and in Holy Writ. We also ask our Triune Commander
to have Christian parents remove their covenant children and
to stop the sacrifice of Christian scholars to godless, humanistic
government schools. |

Dear Mr. Pinckney and Mr. Shortt Just a little more than a year ago my we left the denomination we were both raised in and have been attending a SBC church since. Recently, the denomination we left wasted valuable resources debating and agreeing to continue in dialogue on an issue God had clearly already settled in his Word, the sin of homosexuality. It is no surprise that this same denomination has historically supported "public (government) education" without question. It is such an honor to now worship within a denomination with leadership that will consider a resolution calling us to the kind of obedience found in the Pinckney-Shortt Resolution. We want to thank both of you for the courage you have displayed in bringing this resolution before the SBC. We will be praying that not only will this resolution be considered and passed at the SBC, but that the attention it receives along the way will cause Christian parents of all denominations to earnestly seek the LORD, for their eyes to be opened to Truth, and for these parents to remove their children from these godless institutions of secular humanism commonly called Public (government) Schools. Please know how very much we appreciate your leadership and that you and your families will be in our prayers. Blessings in Christ, our Lord, Savior and King, Louis and Patricia H. Florida |
