D-Day Onomatopoeia Activities

Remember:  Onomatopoeia = Words that imitate sounds or sounds that are linked with objects. In short, literary sound effects.

Hands On Activities

Interview veteran(s) from World War II along with their wives.  What were/are their thoughts and actions about D-Day? Where were they on D-Day?

Listen to the music of the times Benny Goodman, Dorsey Brothers, Andrew Sisters, etc. Why do you think they were popular? Was their music full of self-pity or was it upbeat?

Find out what countries were apart of the Axis Powers and what countries were the Allied Powers. What were their special markings? (e.g., USA had a star, England a bull's eye, Japan had the rising sun, etc.)

Geography: Locate on a globe/map and/or color a map showing the various countries participating in World War II. (You may want to color code them with respect to Allied versus Axis powers).
