Flag Day is fast approaching.  Take the time to teach your scholars the meaning of the flag's colors, how to care for the flag, meaning behind folding the flag, what citizenship means, and more.  Flag Day Activities offers puzzles, hands on activities, analogies, alliteration, onomatopoeia, word power (anagrams), the pledge to the Christian flag, the Christian flag's anthem (including music and lyrics), pledge of allegiance and more!  Flag Day Poems offers several poems for your scholars to begin to learn how others in the past have looked upon Old Glory and what she means.  Teach your scholars Christian songs to sing at Flag Day Songs (includes PDF file worksheets, lyrics and music so you may sing along!)  Flag Day Quotes Interested in what others have said about the flag?  Be sure to check out Patriot Coloring for coloring pages that will make Flag Day come alive for your scholar!

Do not forget our troops!  Armed Forces Tribute is one way to help your family remember our military members in their prayers daily.  Cell for Soldiers is a wonderful way YOUR family may show your support for our troops!  The goal of this noble attempt is to help our soldiers serving in Iraq and elsewhere pay for calls home.  The plan is to provide as many soldiers as possible with pre-paid cell phones or calling cards.  Be sure to send your "thank you" to the military and be a good example to your children!

Need something to do for grandmother for Mother's Day?    Plenty of ideas here including a Mother's Prayer, gift ideas, the song M-O-T-H-E-R, discusion questions, and more!  Activities provides coloring, puzzles (mazes, word search), analogies, alliteration, Onomatopoeia, Word Power (Anagrams) and more.  Bible will aid your scholars what Scripture has to say about mothers, motherhood, mothers-in-law and parents while Funnies will give you a chuckle for Mother's Day.  Movies will give recommendations from commedy to serious films to watch about some remarkable mothers!  Turn some of those coloring pages your child made into a card for grandmother with Mother's Day poems !  Quotes provides statements from Andrew Jackson to Booker T. Washington from Mark Twain to Georgte Washington.  There are even proverbs from various countries!  If the poem's are too long for your scholar's hand for their very own homemade coloring page Mother's Day card.  Songs offer tunes from a Christian worldview.  Most of the songs provide a worksheet that include lyrics, vocabulary, imagery, poem mechanics, comprehension questions, What Does the Bible Say?, author info, geography, activities and more.  Stories are very significant and meaningful. Take the time to read "let e tell you a story" to yourself, and, then, to your scholars and spouse. Be sure to read "Being a Mom."

(pronounced = Ked meal fell/cha)  One hundred thousand welcomes!  St. Patrick's Day is almost upon us!  Learn about the man that refused to retreat!  Irish Songbook Sing along with Danny Boy, Harrigan, My Wild Irish Rose or listen to the jig the Irish Washerwoman.  There are plenty of songs here to get into the Celtic frame of mind!  Make sure your children understand the Christian nature of this Special Day by teaching and singing Christian songs that commemorate the work Saint Patrick did!  Need some activities from a Christian worldview?  There are plenty on the Saint Patrick's Day Activity page!  Puzzles/mazes, coloring pages, word games, alliteration, onomatopoeia, analogies, anagrams, posters, mobiles, and more!  A merry heart doeth good like a medicine:  but a broken spirit drieth the bones (Proverbs 17:22).  Truer words have never been spoken. Make merry on this special day with Saint Patrick's Day Jokes!  What does the Bible say about bless/blessings/blessed, courtesy, honor, hospitality, host, and respect?  What does the Bible have to say about treasures?  Check out Saint Patrick's Day Poetry to aid in the academic pursuits of this day.  Have your older students teach younger children about what parodies are with old nursery rhymes and songs with Saint Patrick's Day Parodies or enjoy them yourself!  Learn what Erin Go Bragh or Go mbeannai Dia duit means.  There are many serious, witty, kind, funny and gentle sayings, proverbs and blessings that you and your family will embrace in preparation for this day and while remembering the work of Saint Patrick with Saint Patrick's Day Sayings/Proverbs.  Stuck for some recipes to help your scholars remember Saint Patrick's Day?  Never fear, check out the Saint Patrick's Day Recipes for help!  As most know, Saint Patrick came from Britain.  Most scholars hold that the ancient British were Welsh.  Take the time to learn a little bit about Wales, its music, and its flag with Traditional Welsh Music.   Why not take the Traditional Welsh Music Quiz.  How many songs do you know?  For the older student, worksheets are now available for the Confession of Saint Patrick, the Lorica (or St. Patrick's Breastplate), and Letter to the Soldiers of Coroticus.

The Kingdom of God:  A Guide for Old Testament Study by Francis Breisch, Jr. is a wonderful older testament Bible study.  The Kingdom of God Study Suggestions makes movie/documentary recommendations along with recommendations for music, famous pieces of artwork through the ages, books, audio books and more to help make this study come more alive!  Kingdom of God Study Scheduling Idea (page 1) and Kingdom of God Study Scheduling Idea (page 2) gives direct links to listen to Alexander Scourby perform the older testament book you and your scholar are studying.  Flashcards are available in PDF file format for each book of the older testament to aid your scholar.   A list of spelling changes (includes a PDF file worksheet) from the King James Bible to modern American-English is also available.
